I don't aim to list everthing that Southampton has to offer, what I do want to do on this page is offer you a flavour of what Southampton has to offer. Southampton and Ellenborough House are also great bases to visit the New Forest from.


The Museum of Archaeology Southampton

The Museum of Archaeology is home to an outstanding collection of artifacts and historic remains that trace Southamptons roots back to times when it served as a Roman port.


The Maritime Museum

Find out about Southampton's maritime history at this interesting museum which features special exhibits including the Titanic. A great way to spend an afternoon and learn about the great maritime history that the city has.


Solent Sky

Southampton isn't only famous for its maritime history, the sky has featured prominently in the last century. Solent Sky aviation museum tells the story of aviation in the Solent area through some quite stunning exhibitions including the Spitfire which was designed and built in Southampton.



Southampton can truly boast that it really is a city of culture.Three outstanding art galleries, two magnificent theatres, countless concerts, festivals and events. Whether you want to see new films or classic ballets, hear traditional jazz or the latest garage, admire paintings or photographs, Southampton has it all.


Sport & recreation

Southampton provides a myriad of sporting activities and is especiailly big on water activities, whether its a leisurely cruise around the harbour with Blue Funnel Cruises or something a bit more taxing, I am sure that you will find something to suit you. The Hythe Ferry is also a good trip where you have the opportunity of a good view of the Queen Mary II and the Queen Elizabeth II when at home.


Nightlife & dining

Southampton has an exciting nightlife scene and is renowned for a really good night out. The city offers a wide and varied range of pubs, clubs and some great dining venues.



Southampton is really a great place to shop, many shopping centres and the main High Street give it a wide and varied choice of outlets including both major high street names and many independent outlets that you will only find in this great city. WestQuay offers a wide range of retailers all under one roof featuring many big names including John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and many others.
